Our 2nd Eee PC podcast is complete. Another CES rumor, the Eee PCs involvement in the Intel and OLPC breakup, and a couple of tips for Thunderbird email.

Neil from the eeeuser forums joined me on the podcast today. He has excellent insight on the current UMPC market.

Some information for an article in this show was provided by Paul Maddox of Eee-Developers.com

Forward email inline in Thunderbird

This corrects the problem where some mail servers block messages sent as attachments. Here’s an example email rejection:

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed: someone@somewhere.com
This message has been rejected because it has a potentially executable attachment “subjectline.eml”
This form of attachment has been used by recent viruses or other malware. If you meant to send this file then please package it up as a zip file and resend it.

  1. Work Tab, Mail
  2. Edit, Preferences
  3. Composition Menu Item
  4. General Tab (Under composition item, not the General Menu Item)
  5. Forward Messages: Change from “As attachment” to “Inline”
  6. Click Close

Eeecast Tip - How to change your dictionary from Chinese to English

  1. Open the dictionary
  2. Click on the wrench on the bottom right corner
  3. There are two menus written in Chinese.  Click on the top one.
  4. There are three choices.  Choose the top one that has a smaller number of characters. This is English.  The other two are Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.
  5. Click the OK button. Now your menu items are in English.
