Great podcast... Waiting for more!

Just got my eeepc, and I thought surely they've fixed the dictionary problem, but no. So one of the first things I tried was this tip on fixing the dictionary. I followed the instructions, but when I got to #4, there were only two options, and neither of them changed it to English.

Now however, I have gone back into my eeepc to check, and the icon for the Dictionary seems to have disappeared. How do I get it back?

Thanks for your 3 podcasts - I hope there are many more to come!

Re your tip to change the dictionary from Chinese to English, please note that the version that came with my eeePC in Australia did *not* change after following your instructions. However, after I updated the dictionary, via Settings|Add/Remove Software, the tip worked as you state above.

Thank you for all your efforts concerning the eeePC.

Hi There,

I'm excited to hear about your podcast, I plan on listening to each of them but discovered that the download link to Eeecast #1 links to a 1k file, I think you may have an error there. Please let me know when this episode is again downloadable (is that even a word).

Everybody (including me) is getting excited about Eeepc-NG (NextGen) with the 8.9" screen & WiMax. My only thoughts are "I wonder how much M$oft will have knuckled in to squeeze out Linux?"

The Eeepc is/was possibly one of the biggest threats to their market dominance, and I'm not convinced that linux will officially survive, as the 8.9" model will the 'clincher' for a lot of folks out there who just can't cope with a 7" screen.

I reckon by the time the new model actually *ships*, the default OS will be M$ & Xandros will be gradually squeezed out...Asus will be under way too much pressure from M$ to allow official support for Xandros to continue. It won't disappear overnight, but it will be the usual case of drivers & updates not appearing so quickly for linux, if at all. We see this already in the new Asus 500T 3G card: it *is* supported under linux, but NOT voice calling.....so it's partly a disabled device under linux, but fully working under M$oft. The EeePC-NG will be attractive to millions, potentially hundreds of millions of mobile users out there, most especially because it will ship with an emerging next-gen mobile internet.

Don't get me wrong: I'm sure Asus would LOVE to be completely free of M$ - but as far as M$ are concerned, they can't afford (literally) to let the EeePc pull the rug from under their feet. I so hope I'm completely wrong. But I don't think so somehow.

Excellent show!

I really like that you've decided to keep it short and to the point. It occurred to me that it might be possible (in the future) to record guests on the show with skype (though, you probably already thought of that).

The tip on switching the dictionary menu's over to English was great. Perhaps on the next cast, you could talk about some of the other software that comes with the standard installation. For example tips on maximizing the screen real estate when using Firefox/Thunderbird.

Best Regards,
Gord
